“Before coming to The Academy, I wanted to focus on illustration or fashion design. That soon changed to painting. Now, a graduating senior, I’m going to college for Architectural Design. The teachers here are never hesitant to point you in the direction that they think your talents and abilities can be the most useful. But, they will always have enough respect to have a conversation about your future if you are ever confused. In regards to academics, don't think that just because we are at an art school that we have it easy! Just like any other school, academic classes are very difficult.”

Congratulations to Amy Li, who is heading to the Pratt Institute in the fall! She looked back at the artistic and academic support she received at The Academy.

“The Academy is a place where all talents and interests are openly accepted. It is an inclusive community where the word 'family' can really be defined. It’s unique in a way that as a young student, your dreams and future goals are well respected and fully supported; whether you want to be a professional artist or you are looking to achieve another degree after graduating, you will be able to find the resources and opportunities here.”

Finally, Amy wanted to recognize two special Academy teachers.

“I will never forget Ms. Hoffman. Our freshman year was her first year at The Academy, and it was really meaningful that we got to experience the first year of high school with such an amazing woman. She's been a life and English literature mentor to many of us for the past four years and will remain a best friend after we graduate. Another teacher I’ll never forget is Madame (Anna Mijalski, French). I was so lucky to have her as my first world languages teacher. Everyone in my French class has built an unbreakable bond with her and I will never forget all the treats and sweets she takes the extra time to buy for us.”

Congratulations Amy!
