Lily Boyle graduated from the Visual Arts Department and has been accepted into DePaul University’s Costume Technology Department! Lily has a passion for designing and making costumes, hair, makeup, and special effects. She was awarded the DePaul Theatre Department Scholarship Award and expects to graduate with a BFA. Lily’s father Patrick will miss The Academy community.
“The thing that I love the most about The Academy is the strong sense of community the students have, and this is fostered by the teachers and administration. It is a safe and warm environment to learn in. I love how inclusive it is. Everyone is accepted for who they are, and the artist they will become.”
Patrick hopes that families looking at The Academy understand how rewarding it can be.
“There are so many rewarding aspects —the "hands on" education, the extra tutoring she received. I would tell any other parent that The Academy is a place where kids can be themselves, and they will learn to believe in themselves as well.”
Congratulations Lily!
“I loved going to the Visual Arts Winter Juried Exhibition in 2018. At first when I saw Lily’s “hair suit table” piece, I didn’t understand it. It turns out she won the award at the exhibition, and went on to win second place in the Illinois High School Art Exhibition!”
