Dear Families and Friends,
For 35 years, Academy students have thrived at the intersection of a world-class curriculum and vibrant culture that, together, create the conditions necessary for artistic, intellectual, and personal growth and transformation.
This year was no exception. From the record-setting student-produced AIDS Benefit, to the collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning group Eighth Blackbird, to an enormously successful Gala fundraiser, to the All-School Showcase at the Harris Theatre (all in addition to more than 100 department productions, concerts, shows, and exhibits), this school year has been a testament to the power of this community to bring extraordinary vision to life.
Our alums enjoyed spectacular success as well, including winning two Grammys, showing at Sundance, repeatedly hitting the Billboard Music Charts, going viral, and touring the world. And, following quickly in their footsteps will be the 21 students of the Class of 2016, who were collectively awarded a staggering $4.3 million in college scholarships. Bravo!
Now that the school year is complete, we look ahead to the arrival of the Class of 2020 in the fall, and a yearlong celebration of The Academy’s 35th anniversary. In the meantime, please enjoy this look back at some of the special moments from the last quarter.
